JOSE LUIS VILLARREAL M.D., P.A.

Dr. Jose Luis Villarreal has been treating chronic pain patients in El Paso since 1995. He was the first fellowship-trained, board certified Pain Specialist in El Paso. Dr. Villarreal is a native of El Paso and returned to practice in his community once he completed his medical training.

Dr. Villarreal attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Human Biology in 1986. In 1990 he received a Medical Degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. After doing an internship back home atTexas Tech Health Science Center he completed an Anesthesiology residency at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital from 1991 to 1994. It was there where he developed an interest in pain management. He went on and completed his fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School Eugene McDermott Center for Pain Management in 1995.

He returned to El Paso that year and has performed over 100,000 pain procedures to date.

Dr. Villarreal is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesia with added Qualification in Pain Management. He is also board certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine.

MYRNA Y BEJAR, PA-C

Myrna Y. Bejar is a certified Physician Assistant. She joined Dr. Villarreal at the Pain & Spine Center in 2008. Her prior experience is in the fields of orthopedics, neurosurgery and neurology. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico Physician Assistant Program in 2002.

Myrna is a native of El Paso and has long served our community. She first served El Paso while in high school as a volunteer at the Tigua General Hospital and RE Thompson General Hospital. She went on to become an Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P) for the City of El Paso. Early on she found her calling in the medical field and decided to become a physician’s assistant.
